All the fun of the fayre

For our first stall, I’d say it was a success. We learnt a lot from it, things like to remember to bring carrier bags for our customers to take their items away in and to not wear a long, flowy summer dress with sandals when the fayre is set in a park and wind and rain are predicted (and occurred) and to arrive a little bit earlier as to not be given the last-but-two end pitches. Still, we certainly managed to attract the good people of South East London and we had tonnes of interest in our hand made goods.

We sold a mixture of our handmade products and some vintage clothing and bits and bobs too. Look at the close-up of our wares! I feel so proud!

To the left are my little shoes for tiny feet and then along the table we sold knitting needle cases, fabric bags, bunting, knitted teddies, patchwork dogs, bow hair bands and vintage button hair clips all made by my wonderfully crafty friends.

Which leads nicely to the announcement of our craft collective, Pretty Handy.

We are working on a website and have joined the online marketplace Etsy but please bear with us as we get it all sorted. Our collective will relish in producing quality, handmade items that use reclaimed/recycled/vintage/ethically sourced materials, honouring our heros of the Arts and Crafts movement but in our attempt at a green and carbon neutral century. Out of the 9 of us the online members of our collective are Hannah, Ray and MamaWolf (and I seriously recommend that you give their blogs a good read as you will come away thoroughly inspired). So all in all very exciting times!
